tonari and caregiving

How tonari can bring nursing and caregiving into the future

Life often leads us to become caregivers, and later, come to rely on the care of our loved ones. On November 11, tonari joined Aba Lab’s caregiving event, The Day of Fulfilling Caregiving Wishes (介護の願いを叶える日), and through the event I was reminded that caregiving is a role filled with deep significance, which encompasses both professionals and informal caregivers like family and friends. They provide care at home, in hospitals, and sometimes even from a distance. While this role is crucial, it's frequently learned on the job without an official instruction manual, as it varies for each person.

At the Aba Lab caregiving event, six companies — including tonari — introduced new technologies that can assist caregivers and medical practitioners. This was a valuable opportunity for us to reflect on new opportunities for caregiving across distances.

In a time when remote communities lack adequate nursing resources for growing elderly populations, the floor-to-ceiling screens of tonari can allow for much deeper communication experiences beyond what any other video solutions can provide.

For caregivers and receivers, having emotional support is crucial. It's not just about being near physically but also having the ability to connect with family and friends, whether they're close by or far away. This network of support helps caregivers navigate the emotional challenges that often come with their role.

Moreover, many informal caregivers need knowledge and skills to provide the best care possible. Hospitals and care centers can offer informal classes in community spaces to teach caregivers how to care for someone with an injury or illness. This type of practical education empowers caregivers with the skills they need.

Lastly, tonari can provide opportunities to join a support group for caregivers, whether they're nearby or distant. Caregivers face unique challenges, and being able to share their stories, exchange caregiving tips, and gain support from others in similar situations can be immensely beneficial. These support groups provide a sense of community and shared experience that can make a world of difference.

The best way to understand tonari is to experience it yourself, so we encourage you to visit our website and book a demo. We’d love to chat with you about how caregiving can use tonari to expand into the future.
